MAD MEAT MEN

Lucky diners were treated to a pork-themed meal of epic proportions at the ‘Mad Meat Men’ Farmers’ Market Feast. Prepared entirely with fresh, locally-sourced SoCo Farmers’ Market ingredients & Da-Le Ranch pastured boar, the ‘Mad Meat Men’ (Michael Harris, Carlos Salgado, Dave Lieberman, Jason Coulston & David Kim) cooked to their hearts’ content in the open kitchen in front of guests. The kitchen buzzed with excitement, the wine (provided by the lovely Julie Lim of OC Wine Mart) flowed, and overall it was a magical evening of pork-tastic feasting and, my personal favorite, food photography.

SOCO FAMILY MEAL

Family Meal at Pirch, allowed fellow Farmers, Fishmongers and Chefs to connect with resources to build a remarkable culinary collective. This is a private event to encourage direct dialog and positive problem solving with industry introductions to ask what we can do for you. We invite you to eat first, and will serve Native California cuisine with foraged and farmer finds for Family Meal at 6PM. We will then offer a matchmaking opportunity at 7PM to match great Chefs with great businesses: restaurant accountants, small business advisors, health and wellness resources, media and marketing, to create a united food front and Costa Mesa culinary coalition.

SOCO UNCORKED

Through Uncorked's ticket sales, wine purchases, and generous donations from guests and sponsors, SOCO Uncorked raised more than $10,000 for PHA, which will help us end homelessness for seven Orange County families.
Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed small bites from favorite eateries including Taco Maria, Bistro Papillote, Pueblo, and ARC with wine pairings curated by LCA Wine's Nancy Milby. Prior to the tasting event, VIP guests experienced a private wine seminar with Sommelier Peter Neptune of Neptune School of Wine and a live duck deconstruction demo by ARC restaurant's executive chef Noah Blom. Set in SOCO's spacious outdoor courtyard, guests also enjoyed live music by Tijuana Dogs' Matt Mauser and the Frank Sinatra Tribute Band.

OC ETSY CRAFT PARTY

Craft enthusiasts gathered for the 2016 OC Etsy Craft Party to the OC Mix in Costa Mesa - the largest craft party in Orange County! The event sells out every year and attracts 200 + enthusiastic makers. This year, the craft party featured 8 DIY craft stations, a lineup of vinyl-spinning DJ's, a photo booth, braid bar, henna, tarot readings, large-scale community art project, and live entertainment.

TASTEMAKERS

Chefs from award-winning restaurants throughout the area flaunted their culinary craftsmanship Wednesday during Tastemakers of Orange County 2.0 in Costa Mesa. The second annual food festival at SOCO and the OC Mix was held to benefit the Orange County Asian and Pacific Islander Community Alliance and celebrate those communities' heritage and, of course, cooking.
"The Asian community has become so diverse in the last 20 years," OCAPICA Executive Director Mary Anne Foo said this month. "You have Asians mixing with other races, the second-generation, younger chefs and longtime restaurant owners who have really transformed the county. What binds them all is their commitment to the community and wanting to give something back." The event, which organizers said drew about 500 guests, also celebrated the 20th anniversary of OCAPICA, which seeks to enhance the health and socioeconomic well-being of Asians and Pacific Islanders in Orange County. The group is based in Garden Grove and has offices in Costa Mesa and Buena Park.
